Open Road, a charity based across Essex and Medway which offers services and support for individuals and families with addiction issues, and The Children’s Society have recently been awarded the PAIRS (Alcohol) contract by Essex County Council. PAIRS (Psychosocial Alcohol Intervention Recovery Service) is designed to provide a comprehensive range of alcohol support services tailored to meet the needs of individuals and their families across Essex.
This new service will officially commence on 1st April. Through this contract, Open Road and The Children’s Society will be delivering early intervention, structured treatment, harm reduction, family interventions and recovery support. The service will focus on prevention and education, as well as working with individuals to help them achieve and maintain long-term recovery.
Together, the two charities will be implementing a new model that includes dedicated support for young adults aged 18-24, provided by The Children’s Society, while Open Road will work with individuals aged 25 and over. This joint service follows a ‘No Wrong Door’ approach, ensuring that individuals receive the right support regardless of their point of entry into the service.
Anna Trudgian, Operations Director for Open Road, and Mark Munday, National Area Manager London & Eastern Region Children & Family Services at The Children’s Society said in a joint statement, “we are absolutely delighted to be awarded this new contract. It will bring together both alcohol and drug treatment under one service improving accessibility and creating more options for individuals and their families and local communities.”
