During the summer Medway Youth Service ran a simulated night club called ‘Shutdown’ for young people aged 13-17 to create discussions around safety on nights out when they start going to pubs & clubs. Supporting services included Open Road Young Persons’ Service delivering harm minimisation advice & raising awareness around substance misuse, Clover Street Sexual Health Service, South Eastern Railway Safeguarding Team & the Missing & Exploitation Team from Medway Council.
This was a very successful night which attracted over 200 young people with DJs, free food, reduced price drinks etc. Due to the success of the first ‘Shutdown’ event Open Road is going to be supporting the running of another one during October half term with the theme of safety.
