Open Road Environmental Policy
At Open Road we are committed to limiting the environmental impact of our work. All our people at every level of the organisation play their part in reducing resources we consume to help mitigate climate change and its adverse impact on our communities. We acknowledge our corporate responsibility towards the environment, and we believe in the importance of environmental protection and improvement. We are also aware that our business activities and services have direct and indirect environmental impacts, and we will endeavour to manage these in a responsible manner.

Open Road Environmental Goals Action Plan
Open Road commits to net zero by 2035, with a 70% absolute reduction by 2030 from our verified 2023/24 baseline of 105 tCO₂e. 87% of our emissions arise from our fleet, which operates in Essex. Our fleet transition plan is concrete and phased across three years: HVO conversion of our highest-emission vehicle in Year 1 (2025/26), second vehicle in Year 2 (2026/27), and full fleet completion in Year 3 (2027/28). In 2026/27 we will also replace our oldest vehicle — the Chelmsford SOS bus — with a new solar-panel equipped bus, eliminating the diesel generator for onboard power. Together these actions are projected to reduce total organisational emissions by approximately 50%.
