Volunteer Profile

Becoming a volunteer at Colchester Open Road has been a very rewarding experience so far and one that has helped me grow personally.  Having family and friends who in the past have been drug and alcohol mis-users has perhaps triggered an interest for me to help people in the same situation.  As I presently do most of my voluntary work in the drop-in and having the initial contact with prospective clients, I feel a great privilege knowing that I can offer instant support to them, which in some cases can mean the difference between life and death.

During my time with Open Road, my aim is to contribute as much as I can to making the Open Road drop-in a non-judgemental environment and the safest place possible where people can discuss their problems in confidence and know that they are supported.

Furthermore, I find myself looking forward to my days at Open Road, working alongside a supportive, strong and hardworking team of employed staff, volunteers and therapists.
