Q. How long will I have to wait for an appointment or get into treatment?
A. You will get an appointment within 7 working days. It can take up to 6 weeks to get you into treatment, however, auricular acupuncture is available immediately, on a daily basis.

Q. What are our opening hours?
A. We open from Monday to Friday. 10.00 am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm.
Q. Do we open evenings or at the weekend?
A. We do not open at weekends. However, we open one evening per week at each centre. Please see below.
Colchester opens on Thursday between 6.00pm – 8.pm
Clacton opens on Wednesday between 6.00pm – 8 pm
Braintree opens on Tuesday between 5.00pm – 8pm
Q. Are we a confidential service?
A. We are a confidential service. The only exception is in cases of Child Protection.
Q. Can I specify whether I see a female or male counsellor?
A. Yes, you may specify, however, it may mean that you are on the waiting list for a little longer.
Q. Can we help people who are addicted to prescribed medicines?
A. Yes, we can help.
Q. Is the Needle Exchange confidential?
A. Yes, we only take initials.
Q. My son is nearly 18 and smokes cannabis. Can I send him down to you?
A. Firstly, we would prefer if the person who it concerns actually contacts us. Secondly, we are an adult centre, therefore we deal with people who are18 and over. However, we can give you the number of EYPDAS who specialise in the under 18’s. Telephone number 01245 493311.
Q. My daughter uses cocaine and cannabis what can you do for her?
A. We can offer an explanation of how we treat the addiction and offer harm minimisation information to the person in order to help with their safety until we can assess them. The family will also be offered family support.
Q. Do you have any child care facilities?
A. No, we do not have any child care facilities as we are an adult centre. However, if you are attending Open Road for the first time any children you have will be allowed in but they must remain with you the whole time whilst you are in the building.
Q. Do you help tobacco smokers?
A. Yes, but you cal also receive help from your GP or Cornerstones in Colchester who run a smoking cessation group. This may be quicker to access.
Q. Do you have car parking facilities?
A. No except for disabled clients. There are several public car parks and street parking nearby all centre. |
