Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a Holistic Therapy that involves the use of essential oils to restore balance and harmony within the body and mind. There are thousands of essential oils each with different properties that when applied using different techniques can bring about positive change and well being.
Aromatherapy oils can be applied using specific massage techniques that enable the oils to enter the bloodstream of the body and to have the desired effect.
Massage can be to the back, limbs, face, head, hands or feet depending on what is most comfortable to the person. Aromatherapy oils can also be used in skin care products i.e. creams and bath oils or in a room oil burner.
Aromatherapy is most beneficial when carried out regularly. The benefits accumulate over time and help to provide consistent well being and health.
What is Aromatherapy? Essential Oils extracted from plant material, used in massage or inhalation for their therapeutic properties. A very simple statement that covers only the tip of the iceberg of what the use of Essential Oils can achieve.
Human beings and plants are closely related because all living organisms are descended from the same single cell line. The chemical composition of DNA in plants and human beings is virtually the same. Therefore, does it not make sense to treat our mind, body and spirit with a substance that contains the same chemical composition as ourselves. Essential Oils appear to be in perfect harmony with the human organism.
The use of essential oils combined with massage, have many benefits:
- Promotes relaxation and relieves tension
- Enables the release of blocked emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
- Oils are selected and blended specifically for each individual
- Provides a therapeutic client/therapist relationship
- Can be used safely with prescribed medication
- Touch, received in massage, is a potent form of communication that can support the therapeutic process.
